Huntsman Associates have been appointed as the only European recruiter to source an experienced Underground Coal Mine General Manager for a growing operation in the Philippines.
The Project
The mine is an underground slope/incline operation utilising manual mining with blast methods of extraction. Infrastructure is operational with strong land and sea logistics.
The site is fully operational and a high level of management structure is in place, due to a completion of contract a vacancy has now arisen for an experienced general Manager.
The Candidate
The remit for the role is extensive and as such requires a critical mix of technical, commercial and operational experience gained at a senior level within an underground manual coal mining environment.
The candidate will assume a very hands-on role and be able to work with a high degree of autonomy whilst benefiting from the extensive expertise available both on site and within the organisation.
The candidate will be a strategic thinker, results orientated with exceptional industry acumen and communication skills. They will also need a strong technical awareness coupled with good interpersonal skills and the ability to manage the operation on a growing scale.
Supporting their extensive work experience will be an in-depth knowledge of the coal industry, as well as a sound knowledge of legislation and environmental issues. A relevant degree or extensive experience and career history is a prerequisite for this role. Excellent verbal and written English is also essential.
