Description :
Our client is a leading global operator and marketer of plastics to diesel (P2D) systems. The Company utilises proven, leading edge technology to convert waste plastics - often destined for landfill - to fuel. The result is a fuel source that does not rely on food crops like bio-fuels; can be used on its own or in combination with traditional fuels and produces diesel fuel with fewer emissions.
Two sites are already in operation in America and Asia both using the technology to convert plastics and the intention now is for the Company’s European subsidiary to establish a plant in the UK in Scotland.
To ensure the success of this key project, the Company is looking to appoint
a Commercial Manager Europe who will be responsible for sourcing a suitable site for the plant, overseeing its set-up and ultimately managing and marketing it. As such, the role requires a critical mix of commercial and operational experience gained at a senior level within the European petrochemical industry, probably with a large corporate.
The candidate will assume a very hands-on role and be able to work with a high degree of autonomy, whilst benefiting from the extensive expertise available within the organisation. This ability to work independently is critical given the timescales involved, as it is envisaged that the plant will be fully functional within 6 months once a suitable site has been identified. The role is extensive and varied and will require the individual to manage all aspects of establishing and running a processing plant.
The individual will also be responsible for identifying, developing and managing new business development in Europe and building key partner and user networks. Close interaction with the Australian parent company and the delivery of board and management reports are also essential requirements of the role.
The candidate will be a strategic thinker, results orientated with exceptional commercial acumen and communication skills. They will also need a strong technical awareness coupled with good interpersonal skills and the ability to market the operation on an international scale. As an experienced influencer and negotiator, preferably within the pan-European market, it is likely they have built a wide network of industry contacts. Supporting their extensive work experience will be an in-depth knowledge of the petrochemical, chemical or plastics industries, as well as a sound knowledge of waste legislation and environmental issues. A degree or equivalent in chemical engineering is a prerequisite for this role. Initially, the position will be home based but is expected to become site based once it is operational.
The role offers a high basic salary commensurate with the level of position. It is the intention to offer an enhanced salary and benefits package and the potential for promotion to the board on delivery of agreed short term goals. Initial interviews with the Search Consultants will be held on Friday 18th September with second interviews for short-listed candidates on Wednesday 23rd September.
